The Sound of Silence

Silence makes the loudest sound

It presses heavily on my eardrum

Inside and out

A soundless barrier echoes

Confining my mind

The sound of silence sinks deeply

To weigh upon my spirit

Bearing it down

Like the weight of a thousand raindrops

On the head of a flower

Somewhere in the silence

I float between body and mind

Reaching for a connection

To break the resounding silence

And re-enter the physical world
