Ix Chel

Ix Chel the Mayan Jaguar Goddess, called Lady Rainbow. She is a Moon Goddess and reflects the aspects of the waxing and waning moon. She embodies aspects of fertility, childbirth, medicine and weaving the thread of life.

Also, she reflects the destructive aspects, floods, diseases, war. The space where life and death co-exist.

She is portrayed as both young and old balanced between creation and destruction. The embodiment of life.

I didn't do a lot of work with Ix Chel this month as I was really unwell but what I did receive the impression of in reading about her and creating these images of her was a sense of uncompromising strength to meet all challenges of life head on. A gift to carry me forward.
