Gratitude

A beautiful autumn day today blue sky, a gentle sun, no wind, a perfect autumn day. Added interest with the 6.2 earthquake bringing on some shaking and rolling sensations.

My two weeks annual leave is coming to an end and back to work next week. So I give thanks for being able to spend time in a peaceful and restorative environment that I have created. I really enjoy my home.

I enjoy wandering out to the garden , sitiing watching the fish breathing in peace, quiet and serenity with their silent stillmess and fluid movement. While I watch the fish either Khepra or Aurora will come and join me. Khepra will jump up on the seat beside me and lean into me wanting to have his head scratched whereas Aurora will brush against my legs then lay down at edge of pond. They add a dimension to the stillness.

For a change of pace I can watch and be amused by the busyness of the bantams, their interactions with each other and their movement around the garden doing bantam things. Maggie is coming off the lay and becoming broody and she really dislikes me disrupting her brooding by picking her up out of the nesting box and walking around the garden with her in my arms, She mutters and grumbles away at me until I put her down with the others at which point she has to assert her dominance by running at the other chickens and pecking them, then she settles down to doing bantam things for a couple of hours then back to the coop she goes to brood.

All around me is a green fullness of trees, shrubs and grass, sometimes there are moments of utter silence, no sound at all. I breathe in those moments and allow them to fill me up. My mind goes quiet and I feel as if I am part of every thing around me. The garden, the cats the bantams, the fish it is all me

So on Tuesday I will be back at work, and I give thanks for my job that enables me to have the beauty that is around me at home.
