It is time once again to prune the Hydrangeas,

I love the luxuriant fullness of Hydrangeas in summers but it is a huge task at this time of year.

I have about twenty Hydrangea plants and many of them are taller than I am.

This year I have to give several of the plants a very hard prune, so I started today, weather was mild and dry. I got out the electric saw and cut back three of the big plants. Then I had to take several trips over to the green waste area. Due to the rain last weekend the ground was over laden with water and every footstep resulted in water seeping up from the ground. That was after I had to put the planks back in place on the bridge.

After the first three I then did a gentle prune on two smaller plants and two of the six roses by which time I had had enough and packed up for the day.

So I will try to get the largest Hydrangea pruned tomorrow, then I only have to get to the Contemplation Garden otherwise known as the Hydrangea Dell as this is where the bulk of the Hydrangeas are.

Ah, a gardener's work is never done and as I enjoy nature's bounty and beauty I have to do my share
