On a wintery, summer day I decided I needed a tea that offered a summer’s promise.
I have a very extensive tea range if you came for tea I would be offering you a tea menu. So my decision making for tea is quite intuitive: What is the message in this day? What do I want from the day? What is my small portion of the world saying to me? What do I need to be in the day?
I look at all the different teas; Sakura Rose. White Peony, Ginger Quince, White Rose, Iron Goddess of Mercy, Tokoyo Lime, Geisha Goddess GenMaicha, Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Kawakawa Ginger and Lemongrass, Gyokuro Kabuse, Mango White, Cranberry Pink, Summer Fruit, Chai, Kawakawa Fire, Pomegranate and Mint or even a variety of herbal teas. Sometime I will decide on a tea and when I reach out to pick up the canister and open it and smell the tea, I realise I have picked up something different from what I had mentally decided on. But when I smell the tea I realise that, that tea is what I need.
Today’s choice is a black tea Pomegranate and mint, from Dilmah’s specialty range. A beautiful mellow tea with a hint of sweetness from the pomegranate and lifted with the freshness of mint. It is a deep reddish, mahogany colour and to stay in the summery theme I chose my little blue Steiner teacup.
Serida has settled in well, there has been minimal disruption with Aurora and Khepra. Today she is running around the house like a madcap because every time she goes outside the wind gets in her ears. She has an incredibly sweet temperament she and Aurora spend all day in the house together. I purchased a cardboard scratching box which they both like using but Aurora has also decided it make a wonderful bed, so she sleeps on it a large portion of the day, raising her head to check what Serida is doing. I will need to get a second scratcher so they can use it for scratching.
Another delight arising from Serida’s arrival is that Aurora’s inner child has woken up. Aurora has been playing a little; chasing her tail, kick scratching the stuffed fish and reaching out a paw to hit the balls as they roll past when Serida is chasing them. It is a pleasure to see this.
We do have some food issues , she has been wormed but she wants to eat all the time and sticks her nose in when the others are eating, Khepra huffs at her and occasionally Aurora will hiss. I’m thinking it could just be a time thing. She had been at the SPCA since October dropped in as a stray then she would have had to deal lots of other cats eating the food in the cat run. I am hoping it will settle soon she is going in to the vet for her check up Monday so I chat to the vet about it.
Blessings to all on this out of season Sunday.
