The Art of Tea 02/04/2017

Helen

I wakened my palette this morning with Tokyo Lime green tea, flavoured with Lime, Lemon, Chamomile and Rose petals in my Geisha teacup. It was a nice bright start, to just another rainy Sunday. With putting the clock backwards for the end of daylight saving I got an early start which has come to a wet stop.

Looking at the weather forecast this will be going on throughout the week, Warm and humid with showers sometime heavy. Yay, just the type of weather I don’t want. I am really hanging out for a good, cold southerly.

Just 5 more working days until I have 3 glorious weeks annual leave. This last week has been an oddly frustrating week. I have had some difficult cases at work that have involved a lot of consultation with others, and a lot of work to catch up on from the previous week which I haven’t yet managed to get on top of. On the bright side I finished my Back Beach painting in Art class and I am starting another this week I am going to paint my own copy of Franz Marc’s “Two Cats Yellow and Blue” I wanted to buy a print of this a couple of years ago but the cost of postage to NZ was ridiculous, so I will make my own.

Serida is turning into a little bully, she is harassing Aurora, this is causing Aurora to stay outside which I am not happy about. Aurora has always run from place to place in the house. After she had eaten she would run into the bathroom and hop up onto the window sill, or run into my bedroom and jump up on the bed. When Aurora does this, Serida chases after her which really upsets Aurora. Or when Aurora is asleep Serida sneaks up and hits Aurora, also very upsetting. Having some time at home I can try to correct this behaviour. Aurora is such a sweetie she will only retaliate when she has been really scared or pushed too far. Serida hasn’t yet done this, so Aurora hasn’t retaliated she has just removed herself from the problem, but I miss having Aurora with me.

I got out the Soupmaker and made Pumpkin, Rosemary and Parmesan soup last night. It was delicious, soup is one of the great comforts of winter and I look forward to lots of soups over the coming months. The Soupmaker is brilliant, cooks, and blends ready for me to pour into a bowl. Throw all the ingredients in, go and have a bath and ready when I come out. It is my new favourite appliance.

I have had an absolutely brilliant year of waterlillies flowering, the yellow Stellata has just been fantastic. Disappointed that my Lotus did’t flower this year, admittedly I have only had it one year so maybe nest summer. The fishpond is on my tasks to do over my break as the dying leaves are making it look manky, the algae has not been a problem over summer due to the coverage of the water with the lilly leaves, I may need to figure out a way to cover the pond over winter to stop the winter/spring bloom.

Today with it being wet and not being able to finish mowing the back lawns I think I will start cleaning out the basement.

Happy Sunday everyone, may your week be blessed with good friends and satisfaction of tasks well done.
