The Art of Tea 09/04/2017

Writer's picture: Helen GaudinHelen Gaudin

Today, I get to say a beautiful, sunny Sunday, yay!

My tea of choice Sakura Rose from TLeafT, rose blossom on a Sencha te base flavoured with Sakura cherries. It brews to a light golden green colour and has a delicate flavour. To celebrate the brightness of the day I chose my red, white and gold Kimono cup to enhance energy and brightness of spirit.

I’m on leave for the next three week, it is like a banquet of time spread out before me. The freedom to come and go at task doing things at my leisure garden, books, art, garden, writing, friends and family, garden, books. It is a luxury to be able to choose what I will do with my days.

Although in saying that I do have appointment I have to attend this week. One of those appointments is at the vet with Serida, I noticed a lump in her upper belly area when she allowed me to pet that area the other day, not something I am allowed to do normally.

I am really happy with the gold panne velvet I got yesterday to create a throw for my bed. My new duvet is beautiful but the fabric pulls so very easily so I need a cover so that the cats claws don’t pull the threads. The gold complements the duvet really well and adds to the luxurious feel I am trying to create.

I am well along with my painting of Franz Marc’s “Two Cats” will have it finished on Wednesday. I’m thinking of the next painting I will start on next term tossing up between Franz Mac’s Big Blue Horses or his Little Yellow Horses or my own flower images.

Sharing my Sunday Ritual poem I wrote this morning

The Calm Of Ritual

Calm of centuries Courtesy of cultures Tea is a ritual Known worldwide

An unhurried pace We select Time loses meaning Mind quiets

It brews We wait patiently Steam wreaths Tea misting the air

Cup selected to enhance We pour A golden stream From teapot to cup

We lift the cup Inhale the fragrance Heart beating slowly We sip

Infused with peace Mind quiets Heartbeat slows Body and spirit in harmony

In the calm of ritual.

After a bit of reading and finishing my second pot of tea I am going to head into the wilderness of my back garden

Happy Sunday everyone.
