Yoga and The Art of Tea 11/06/2017

Helen

We have a lovely, bright early winter Sunday. A good day to be in the garden, I am late posting this because I have been in the garden and pruned three of my Hydrangeas, will get back out to do some more after my break to write this up.

Today I tried a new tea from Stir Tea, Dragonwell Longjing. The name really appealed to me when I went through my teas this morning. So I looked up information on this tea it is -- "a variety of pan-roasted green tea from the area of Longjing Village near Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province, China. It is produced mostly by hand and renowned for its high quality, earning it the China Famous Tea title.” Wikipedia

The colour of the tea is a light greenish gold and it has a slight nutty taste. Visually it has long, flat, greyish slices of leaf, brewed for only 3 minutes. It is a light delicate tea reminiscent of White Tea. If you are not a green tea drinker, this tea would be a really good introduction. I used my black and green tea cup to stay in character.

Yoga, well with the ongoing virus, I haven’t done any exercise for three weeks. On Saturday morning I got back to Curves and did a very light workout and that still brought on a bout of coughing. This week I am going to make a real effort to get to Curves three times and yoga three times. I have got to get a routine back in place.

In art class I am working on my Yellow Tulips “My Verona”, it is taking quite a bit of time to get the layers of colours right; I am pleased with how it is going. Thinking about what i will do next. As bad as the week had been I was pleased this week to been creative and written a poem and created a new SHE digital art piece.

Sharing the beautiful words of John O’Donohue a reminder that sometimes you just have to stand fast and say “no” without justifications or reason, just “no”.

“For millions of years, an ancient conversation has continued between the chorus of the ocean and the silence of the stone. No”

― John O'Donohue, Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom

I strive to send and share the beauty I see.

“The human soul is hungry for beauty; we seek it everywhere – in landscape, music, art, clothes, furniture, gardening, companionship, love, religion and in ourselves. No-one would desire not to be beautiful. When we experience the Beautiful, there is a sense of homecoming. Some of our most wonderful memories are of beautiful places where we felt immediately at home. We feel most alive in the presence of the Beautiful for it meets the needs of our soul. For a while the strains of struggle and endurance are relieved and our frailty is illuminated by a different light in which we come to glimpse behind the shudder of appearances the sure form of things.” ― John O'Donohue, Divine Beauty: The Invisible Embrace

Happy Sunday and may your week meet your expectation
