The Art of Tea 09/07/2017

Helen

I woke up to the roar of rain on the roof as we got one of the predicted heavy showers this morning. The stream at the bottom of the garden has breached it banks and is about a metre into the lower garden and the fish pond is filled to the brim. The weather is defining a lazy Sunday.

I baked Golden Cornmeal Muffins for my brunch and paired it with Tokyo Lime Sencha Green tea. After the salty robustness of the muffins the tea cleared my palette with its sharp, clean flavour. Of course I used my Ayako Geisha tea cup to stay in theme.

Plenty of muffins for the rest of the week and I shall make a hearty Vegetable Soup in the crockpot when I have finished my tea. It is just that kind of day I have a book to read, Midnight Castle game to play and thee basic chores to do.

Earlier in the week I said Khepra had ripped half the pad off on his front left foot. He had a couple of days being a three legged cat as he held his paw up so it didn’t touch the ground, yesterday he was haltingly walking on it. Khepra is such a sweet cat he rarely growls and has only ever scratched me by accident or if he has been in pain. I knew his foot was painful as he started a very deep, rumbling growl when I was trying to look at it. Last night he wanted to be on my lap, so I knew he still wasn’t at his best.

Now that I have finished my tulip painting I am thinking about what I am going to do next. I know that I don’t want to do anything in either yellow or blue I need a change using different colours. I am thinking on subject matter. I need to go over my short story I am entering in the short story competition. I also have to get to Curves three times a week, I am noticing a difference since I started in February and I don’t want to lose that. Now that I am not going to art class on Wednesday that does give me an extra evening to do it.

Sharing the beautiful word of Rumi

“This being human is a guest house. Every morning is a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor...Welcome and entertain them all.

Treat each guest honourably. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.” ― Jalaluddin Rumi

Blessings to you all, may you welcome and entertain each guest honourably and with gratitude, that comes to your door this week.
