The Art of Tea 06/08/2017

Helen

Missed opportunities, yesterday the weather was bright and sunny and Saturday being my day to do go out to shop, visit friends and generally take it easy doing nothing, I didn’t get into the garden to continue my tidy up. Today the weather has turned back to rain and really, really not conducive to doing any outdoor task. So I have a lazy Sunday ahead of me.

I selected Ginseng Sencha Green from Stir Tea and in keeping with the clean purity of the tea I used my White “Parlour Lace” teacup. I paired the tea with light fluffy pancakes with Beechwood Honeydew Honey from J.Friend and Co, from down Canterbury what I really like about this brand is on the label it states Collected March 2016, Beekeeper, Steven , raw, unpasteurised with nothing added and 10 cents from every purchase goes to bee preservation.

This week has been an odd week for me, I have had periods where I have felt very energetic and then followed by being very tired. I am thinking that the issues I am having with my Liver are a contributing factor to these swings. Overall I am feeling much, much better than I did at the beginning of the year.

I am currently reading “Red Sister” by Mark Lawrence. When I first read the blurb on line I was reluctant to purchase the book because it sounded quite grim so I was pleased when I found it in the library.

I was born for killing – the gods made me to ruin. At the Convent of Sweet Mercy young girls are raised to be killers. In a few the old bloods show, gifting talents rarely seen since the tribes beached their ships on Abeth. Sweet Mercy hones its novices’ skills to deadly effect: it takes ten years to educate a Red Sister in the ways of blade and fist. But even the mistresses of sword and shadow don’t truly understand what they have purchased when Nona Grey is brought to their halls as a bloodstained child of eight, falsely accused of murder: guilty of worse.

I love the book and am looking forward to the follow up books. Book 2 “Grey Sister” is due out April next year. There is always a frustration in waiting for a sequel but I definitely will be buying the books.

Thinking about starting a new painting as I will be working by myself, not going to class, it is going to be a very big learning curve. I think I will give Wednesday evening to painting and create a routine a specific time to paint in order to fit it in with everything else I try to do.

Sharing the illumination in John O’Donohue’s words

“May you experience each day as a sacred gift woven around the heart of wonder. ” ― John O'Donohue, Eternal Echoes: Celtic Reflections on Our Yearning to Belong

“Many of us have made our world so familiar that we do not see it anymore. An interesting question to ask yourself at night is, What did I really see this day?” ― John O'Donohue, Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom

Blessing to you all and may you see the world anew throughout the upcoming week.
