Cloudy overcast sky but I have an expectation that this will burn off during the day. Have a busy day planned to get into the garden and sort out Hydrangea cuttings for a number of people. Also I want to move a couple of plants.
I treated myself to new teacups this week, when I saw them in the shop I thought they were handle less Japanese style teacups and they were being sold 2 for the price of one. When I picked them up it said on the label that they were tealight holders I decided that for me they were going to be teacups coloured cream, brown and gold and they are perfect as a teacup. So for seven dollars I got myself two lovely teacups.
The tea I paired the cup with today is Ceylon Pekoe Black tea, Springtime Chocolate Mint. The thought of chocolate and tea together is not a combination that fits together that well for me but it was a very satisfying tea. The richness of the black tea supported with a mellow depth from the chocolate and enlivened with the freshness of the mint. As with all black tea the tannins leave an aftertaste but overall a very enjoyable stat to Sunday.
Officially spring is one week away. Overall the weather has been very mild this winter. We did have a period of a few weeks where it seemed to rain all the time and the rain fall was heavy, saturating the ground but we have had more sunny and dry days than wet. I only need the heater on for about 20 days over the three months of winter. Already I have several windows open at night to cool down the house. I am wondering what summer is going to bring.
Khepra has wanted a lot of attention over the last week; he and Serida have both been sleeping on the bed with me. The other night I had to kick them both off the bed as I was too hot and I couldn’t turn over with one on either side pinning me down. Khepra got in a huff and went out side but within five minute Serida was back in her usual place.
Today’s words are from ― Jalaluddin Rumi, The Essential Rumi
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond. ― Jalaluddin Rumi,
Blessings to all in this last calendar week of winter, hold gratitude in your heart for all that touches you, give thanks for each thing of beauty that is in the world that comes your way.
