The Art of Tea 10/09/2017

Helen

Wow a huge amount of rain has been coming down over this weekend. I tell myself that this is Taranaki normal and we thrive in the rain. Needless to say, no gardening.

It is spring and the changing season does engender a lightness of being, so today I chose the beautiful White Rose Tea from TLeafT. It is a light delicate tea that smoothly flows across the tongue with promise of summer to come. One of the many reason I enjoy the ritual of tea is the engagement of many senses from the beauty you see the moment you open the container of dried tea. With White Rose you see the grey green curled leaves of tea mixed with the red petals of the roses, then comes the memory of summer in the scent that is gently inhaled. When the tea is poured the light golden colour streams into your cup and then your taste buds are engaged: light, slightly sweet, delicate and subtle. Tea is a ritual and the time given to this ritual allows mind, body and spirit to align. Now the cup I chose is Picasso’s Le Reve “The Dream”, yes it is a new cup I won the bid on TradeMe and got two cups for $6.00, $11.00 all up with postage. The cups are gorgeous and the shape is off centred, the cup is not symmetrical staying in the Picasso style. I absolutely love them.

I had to do a little rearranging of shelf space. I have now all the cups on one shelf. In moving things around in one of the boxes on the shelf I found gratitude’s and daily delights I had written back in 2013.

  • Sunlight smell – the smell of bedding laid out in the sun to air

  • Bending myself in half in a full stretch

  • Wonderful wind: Channelling Marilyn, walked outside and the wind blew my skirt up in the air

  • Rainbows reflections on the walls and ceiling from sun on crystals hanging in the window

  • Spending the day with Mum

  • Le Petit Bonheur; The Little Happiness – miniature patio roses flowering

  • Laughing meditation: 3 minutes laughter, 5 minutes silence.

These are some I had written; the box was full of folded pieces of paper. It is good to look back the way you viewed the world at different stages of life.

Sharing today some quotes about memories

What matters in life is not what happens to you but what you remember and how you remember it.” ― Gabriel García Márquez

“We all have our time machines, don't we. Those that take us back are memories...And those that carry us forward, are dreams.” ― H.G. Wells

And finally

“People think dreams aren't real just because they aren't made of matter, of particles. Dreams are real. But they are made of viewpoints, of images, of memories and puns and lost hopes.” ― Neil Gaiman

With blessing step into your time machine and carry into the upcoming week your beautiful memories

.

Just a note that there will be no Art of Tea next Sunday as I will be travelling home from Wellington.
