The Art of Tea 24/09/2017

Helen

Did you miss me with no post last week? The first Sunday of daylight saving and the equinox and it is drizzling a light rain, a good rain that softly soaks into the ground to nurture new growth. I am pleased I managed to get my front lawns mowed yesterday in the sunshine. It was a big job as they haven’t been mowed for months. Today I will see I might put on my yellow waterproof coat and pull a few weeds from the soft ground or I might read, or paint, or digital art, or clean. No,no.no; planting all the seed I have I have to do that. Then I might.

So today started the season of new beginnings with Ceylon Black flavoured with the sweetness Pomegranate and the freshness of Mint a bright tingling flavour in the mouth. I chose my cup called “Grace”, blue skies, butterflies and flowers; blossoms, violets and roses a gift from my sister Sue-anne as a tribute to the Spring and anticipation of moving towards Summer’s warmth.

I have done some rearranging in the lounge with the purchase of a new, very large, painting I got from TradeMe for $11.00. It is a stunning piece of art and I absolutely love it. I thought I would put it on the wall behind my chairs where the Kowhai painting is but it didn’t work, everything was so out of balance. I could not have lived with it in that position. Finally after a time spent trying it in different places the best place was between the two windows facing the garden where my Saddleback painting “The Pearl Fisher” had been. It then involved moving plants and other bits and pieces til I finally found the best arrangement. How many of you have that problem when you add something new everything else has to be adjusted?

Serida has just curled up in my arms while I am typing, she doesn’t like the muscle movement when I am typing, she has progressed from growling to tolerating it to be with me but her very active tail starts flicking over my hands and the keyboard. Patience and her desire to be with me are good learning guides.

Sharing with you a poem I wrote last year as Grace seems to be the focus of today’s musings.

Bringing Grace Into The Day 23/10/2016

Body waking to the bright morning

Quiet mind, thoughts stilled

From depths softness arises

The taste of earth, rich, deep and secret

Followed by a salty sweetness

And a sense of timelessness

Of traditions handed down

Bursting across the tongue; flavour

Of life lived in its fullness

Mind and soul in wreathed in gentle quietude

Light flows through porcelain

Infusing the tea in a golden glow

Wreathed in fragrant steam

The mind’s eye sees high mountain plantations

Glossy green leaves, quick hands

Young tips plucked as they being to unfurl

Tenderness in the leaf

The delicate flavour floats softly

Into mind body and soul

Bringing grace into the day

And also

Within the curve 2013

Soft flow

Gentle motion

The eye faithfully follows the curve

Mind quiets

Centered

Stillness and peace flow out.

Blessings to all and may your days be filled with Grace and stillness and peace flow from you into our chaotic world.
