The Art of Tea 05/11/2017

Helen

Cool temperature and rain, so today will be a quiet day with some housework and reading. I am celebrating summer with my choice of cup today, I chose my “Summer Flowers” Roses and Hydrangeas cup rejoicing in the first bloom on my IceBerg Rose. Once the roses start to flower summer is opening the door. My tea selection today is Gyokuro Kabuse, this is a Sencha Green Te combining the Kabuse Sencha with Gyokuro Sencha. Gyokuro Sencha plant are shaded for a period before harvest which stresses the plant and changes the flavour of the tea giving it a richer flavour. It is a delightful tea combining rich depth, an overlaying sweet freshness with, for me, a slightly grassy taste.

I had a fairly intensive week physically this week, I walked to and from work 4 days and completed 3 workouts at Curves as well as being my first week back after leave with a fairly intensively booked calendar. With all of that I expended a lot of energy and on Friday I woke up feeling rather tired so I was pleased it was raining and I would drive to work instead of walking. At Curves for the next six weeks we have a Healthy Habits Challenge, each two weeks we write down a new challenge and how we are going to achieve it. My first challenge is to get into the habit of walking to work for a minimum of 3 days a week. My intention is to walk to work every day but if it is raining I will take the car.

When you decide to make a change in your life the universe will put obstacles in your way to see how serious you are about making the change. Last week when I looked at the long term forecast the next 10 days were for rain or showers. After a bit of grumbling I decided that I would just have to clean up my old yellow garden slicker and wear that if it rains. Today I checked the forecast and they upcoming week is looking pretty good with only one day forecast for rain. If your show the Universe you are serious it will work to support you.

I am also taking up another 30 day Flash Fiction Challenge 30 stories in 30 day it began on 01/11/2017 so I have a few days to catch up on. So keep an eye out for the stories. All my writing and my art is posted into my blog on my website.

I have been busy on my website updating the blog with tags and categories to make it easier for you to find my Haikus, Poetry, Flash Fiction, Gratitudes and Art of Tea posts. I have revamped the Art Albums and I have widened the menu to enable easy access to the different pages.

I would invite you to check out my site and if my art, writing and musings interest and amuse you a like would be nice.

My thoughts today are on renewal, thinking in terms of seasons that your mind, body and spirit go through I can’t go past the words of John O’Donohue

“It is a strange and wonderful fact to be here, walking around in a body, to have a whole world within you and a world at your fingertips outside you. It is an immense privilege, and it is incredible that humans manage to forget the miracle of being here. Rilke said, ‘Being here is so much,’ and it is uncanny how social reality can deaden and numb us so that the mystical wonder of our lives goes totally unnoticed. We are here. We are wildly and dangerously free.” ― John O'Donohue

“What you encounter, recognize or discover depends to a large degree on the quality of your approach. Many of the ancient cultures practiced careful rituals of approach. An encounter of depth and spirit was preceded by careful preparation. When we approach with reverence, great things decide to approach us. Our real life comes to the surface and its light awakens the concealed beauty in things. When we walk on the earth with reverence, beauty will decide to trust us. The rushed heart and arrogant mind lack the gentleness and patience to enter that embrace.” ― John O'Donohue, Beauty: The Invisible Embrace

Blessings to you all on this first Sunday in November, may you walk with reverence through the magic of your world during this upcoming week.
