Good morning and it is a good morning the sun is shining and a vibrant wind dances. To start this day on a bright note I chose Ceylon Black tea flavoured with Chocolate and Mint. A rich mahogany colour and a deep, rich, bright taste, to show off the colour I chose my pure white “Parlour Lace” cup. When you take the time to imbue the ordinary actions in your life with ritual you add dimension to your every day. I have a huge gratitude to life I live and every little action I that gives back to and enhances this life is a thank you to the universal spirit.
I am feeling really good about myself and the changes that I am engendering in my life. I am still walking to work, three weeks now, and the walk is a pleasant start and end to my working day. Although sometime the end walk home does seem to take so much longer. My plan is that whatever age I am, I am going to be the best physically, mentally, spiritually and personally that I can be as I age. I am not going to fall into the negative trap that conversations of aging in today’s society depict. I am not going to be able to do all of the things that I used to do at the same speed, strength or flexibility, but that is a Peter Pan mentality. The mentality that wants to remain young forever and always want it to be summer; that doesn’t recognise the beauty of aging and the beauty of change. What I am going to be able to do is to be strong, flexible, active and healthy. I am writing this as a memoir to aging self as a blueprint.
Today’s target is the Contemplation Garden, I really haven’t done any real work in clearance for well over a year so it is going to be a full on day once I get started. The garden is looking beautiful which gives me a sense of joy.
Today I am sharing a poem I composed this morning to the gusty south-easterly wind.
The Haupitonga
In the garden
The winds chime frantically dances
As the haupitonga blusters through
A south easterly wind
With all the subtlety of a rambunctious teenager
Fill to the brim with energetic life
Bounding through the gentle air of early summer
Trying to impress with its strength and energy
Roaring round the corners of the house
Tossing tree limbs into a wild dance
Then suddenly stopping to catch its breath
For another whirl of wildness
Clutching at the window frames
Pushing into the house to dance the enclosed air
Into fresh exuberance
Wake up! Wake up!
Wake up to life and energy
Free your spirit
To dance through the day
The Haupitonga calls
From its wild, energetic heart.
