The Art of Tea 04/02/2018

Helen

Hello world, getting off to a sluggish start today, I’m drinking my tea to the chorus of cicada serenading summer. Sometime it is difficult to tell if the sound is tinnitus or cicadas, today I know it is the cicadas.

This day is the day for Sencha Green Rose tea, light, bright and slightly sweet. Summer days found in the light golden tea with a hint of grassiness, you remember the smell when grass is first cut; sencha carries that smell into its flavour. When you close your eyes and let the taste fill your senses you know you are drinking a cup of summer. I paired the tea with a cup that flamboyantly celebrates summer with a pattern of wild roses, boysenberries and butterflies.

We have had the most magnificent summer this year blue skies, heat, rampant growth of plants and grass and after the initial drought forecast we have had some very heavy fall of rain that were quite destructive but also the growing time rain, that light rain that soaks into the ground. As I went out this morning I noticed my Purple Capsicums have changed from the green to the purplish red stage, they are still quite small but I expect to start harvesting within next couple of weeks. Every day I have been getting around ten tomatoes and the spinach has just gone haywire, nasturtiums are growing well. Unfortunately my mushrooms didn’t grow, I think it was too hot where I had them.

I did the final layer of Papier Mache on my January Goddess, a couple of days to dry her out and I will start painting her. I have started my February Digital art piece and do not ask me why she six eyes because I don’t know, that is what SHE wanted, I tried to change it to 3, back to 2, then I tried 7 but SHE wanted 6 eyes.

I am still having problems with my shoulder which is restricting my ability to do much in the garden which is very frustrating. To give me something creative for the garden I have decided to create a solar light column from the 5 glass shades Ngaere gave me I will get onto that sometime over the next couple of weeks.

Sharing the beautiful words of Sanober Khan

“For it is up to you and me to take solace in nostalgia's arms and our ability to create the everlasting from fleeting moments.” ― Sanober Khan, A touch, a tear, a tempest

Blessing to you all, may you live each day in the everlasting moments.
