The Art of Tea 01/04/2018

Helen

A beautiful sunny Easter Sunday and I got off to an early start with daylight saving, reclaiming the morning hour. To broke my fast with mushrooms, spinach, garlic and eggs paired up with ginger quince tea from TLeafT. Breakfast and the tea complimented each other beautifully and complimented the Autumn season with a combination of earthy, salty, mellow, warm with an underlying sweetness. For the tea to celebrate this day I chose a beautiful little pink, white and gold cup, my sister, Ngaere brought me back from her trip to England and gave me at Christmas. This all combine to a beautiful start to the day.

On Good Friday I started cleaning up my potager garden, got a really good start will continue to get that cleared up today. I am also getting new plants into the garden once I have cleared it, cuttings I have brought along in my nursery garden over summer. Have I expressed how much I love Autumn, the cooler temperature, the changing weather and personally for me the rise in energy with the cooler mornings and evenings and the temperate sunshine during the day. I find I am able to do more and there is a drive to get this little piece of earth that I look after ready for winter.

Serida is much better the Cystitis has cleared up with giving her the medication. I was a little concerned about giving her the medication with her history and morphing into Hellspawn. But she was great, I was able to put the medication into her food and she just ate it and I was able to squirt the pain relief into her mouth really easily. Now that she knows food is readily available she now is regulating her own food intake and beginning to loose the weight she put on when she firt came to live with me. With the cooler temperatures I am seeing more of Khepra, he is coming into the house and sometimes spending a bit of time with me.

Beauty and wonder surround us and often when we live inside our head and we fail to see the beauty in the everyday, the ordinary and that it is within our touch, it is within our ability to take inside and smooth as a balm across our soul. The ordinary, everyday elements such as the feel of dew laden grass, cool, damp and springy underneath a bare foot, the shimmer of a cobweb in sunlight, the quiet, smooth flowing walk of a cat at peace with its world, the unfurling flower or fern frond, the scent of your favourite beverage wreathing around your face as you take a sip, the smoothness to the cup, the feel of your body touching the chair, the table, the keyboard. Sometimes we just need to reboot our brains to recognise what is most important and that is living to the edges of our skin and interacting with the wonder filled world within our reach. Everything else money, job, status are all just layers you choose to cover yourself with, don’t let these layer deaden your ability to experience the wonder of life.

Today I share the thoughts from the beautiful mind of John O’Donohue

“Many of us have made our world so familiar that we do not see it anymore. An interesting question to ask yourself at night is, What did I really see this day?” ― John O'Donohue, Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom

“What you encounter, recognize or discover depends to a large degree on the quality of your approach. Many of the ancient cultures practiced careful rituals of approach. An encounter of depth and spirit was preceded by careful preparation. When we approach with reverence, great things decide to approach us. Our real life comes to the surface and its light awakens the concealed beauty in things. When we walk on the earth with reverence, beauty will decide to trust us. The rushed heart and arrogant mind lack the gentleness and patience to enter that embrace.” ― John O'Donohue, Beauty: The Invisible Embrace

Blessings to all on this Sunday of Christian tradition, in this upcoming week take the time to ask yourself “What did I really see this day”
