The Art of Tea 27/05/2018

Helen

I don’t have a lot to say today. Life is pretty much the same as it has been for the last couple of weeks. Tired for workload, but still managing to get things done at home. Today is overcast but still fairly warm; I might get out into the garden a little later and lift the concrete blocks for the garden edgings. We had a brilliantly sunny day yesterday I got the lawns mowed which does make the place look tidy at least.

I started my day with a leek and cheese omelette and Iron Goddess of Mercy Oolong tea, this is one of my favourite teas. The tightly curled leaves unfurl gently in the hot water into large slices of leaf, the size of the leaves gives this tea it mellow, slightly sweet nutty flavour. I can have this tea all day as it is not brewed for long I can get several pots from it a nice way of setting up the day.

I have to say I have been much focussed on plants lately now that I am getting my garden into order. My seedlings in the garden area of the basement are coming along beautifully. I have placed pots with young plants that I have propagated from cuttings into the areas I want them to go I am not putting anything into the ground until I have all the edgings done defining the areas for planting. I am being very disciplined about this.

I haven’t walked to work for two weeks due to the weather being wet with either big storms or showers every day. I do miss walking to work; it has become part of my daily life. This week we are forecast for some fine weather hopefully they (the weather people) have managed to get a good reading. With New Zealand being islands the weather moves and changes often. I always liked the description of our weather in a holiday guide as being Oceanic Temperate, that basically means our temperate range is moderate it doesn’t get exceedingly hot or cold in over 90% of NZ and due to being surrounded by ocean the weather changes very quickly. In one day you can get a taste of all types of weather.

Serida is being very needy today she wants cuddles and keeps complaining that there is no food even though there is food in the dishes. Khepra has been in and out he eats his food and then goes off again. Aurora hasn’t shown up for food yet. I would guess that she is tucked away somewhere and staying there because there is a disruption in our area due to the neighbours moving out. With so many strangers around she won’t show a whisker until everything calms down again.

Today I am sharing the beautiful words of Kahlil Gibran

“Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.”

And

“We are all like the bright moon, we still have our darker side.”

Finally

“Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror. But you are eternity and you are the mirror.”

Blessings, may your light shine forth sharing your beauty with those you come in contact with in the upcoming week. Joy to all who are reading this.
