Slow start today as I am very tired after my marathon effort in the garden yesterday. I am feeling more energetic after a hearty brunch and pick me up with my choice of tea today. I got a whole lot of sampler packs from TLeafT who had a half price sale on samplers the other day. This morning I selected New Zealand Breakfast a golden Assam Black tea blended with Manuka. The colour of the tea as it was poured was a golden copper and the flavour rich malty which is usual for black teas combined with a pine taste from the Manuka; a really lovely combination. I chose my red cast-iron teapot and cup I love the way it hold the heat and the weight of teapot and cup; the slightly rough exterior of the cup against the smooth interior as it touches my lips. I gained more pleasure as I watched the steam wreath upward into the cooler air.
My changes to the garden are coming along in leaps and bounds and I have lots of seedlings, propagated cuttings and baby plants to plant out in spring. I am excited at how my garden is evolving and I am so happy that I feel energetic and vitalised to get the changes done by being out in the garden doing the work. It is a cycle of renewal. Today I will rake up all the fallen leaves and compost them and if it stays dry get rid of weeds.
I have had a bit of a change in my reading genre lately with murder/suspense stories. I have really enjoyed Quinn mysteries by LH Thomson; Quinn an insurance investigator after getting out of prison for art forgery dealing with the modern day mob and family disappointment with his fall from grace and a potential relationship with his childhood friend. I am a huge fan of the Genevieve Lenard art mysteries by Estelle Ryan a high functioning autistic dealing with art insurance investigation. Through the 12 books I have read a interesting cast of characters has developed and the extension of Genevieve’s life by the introduction of more people into what was a closed and sterile existence along with the art crimes and modern technology used creates and excellent series. Another series I am picking up is Garrison Cage: Oregon Coast Mysteries by Scott William Carter. The latest I have started is the Jeff Resnick Mysteries by LL Bartlett; after being mugged and having brain damage from being hit in the head with a baseball bat Jeff starts to have visions about people who have died and he and his brother work through the visions to find the murderers. I still revert back to my favourite genre Science Fiction and Fantasy for some excellent world building.
I have been muddling around doing some very amateurish drawings with the oil pastels as I am learning how to use them. Serida is mugging me with an excess of love she is purring very loudly and going backwards and forwards giving my face full body rubs, then bouncing up to head bunt me which make it very difficult to see the screen, let alone type and makes my glasses very dirty.
My choice of quotes today are from the immortal words of Jelaluddin Rumi
“The beauty you see in me is a reflection of you.”
“As you live Deeper in the Heart, the Mirror gets clearer and cleaner.”
And finally
“Look carefully around you and recognize the luminosity of souls. Sit beside those who draw you to that.”
Blessings to all, may you all look into the mirror of your heart and see your beauty.
