The Art of Tea 24/06/2018

Helen

Lots of rainfall this morning but the temperature is still very mild. I woke up with everything all together this morning by this I mean I didn’t come awake still half sleepy and require time to fully wake up. I opened my eyes and both mind and body were connected and in the moment. That is a nice place to be at any time but especially when you transition from being asleep and having no awareness to being awake and having full awareness.

With the purity of my awakening I decided on Gyokuro Kabuse as my tea of choice today. This is a tea that has a purity of flavour and colour.

“Combining the freshness of quality sencha with the richness of gyokuro. Kabuse tea bushes are shaded for a shorter time the Gyokuro. The resulting infusion has a fresh, sweet flavour with a nutty aroma” description from TLeafT.

I would add it has a lightness and sense of summer when grass is freshly cut this is enhanced by the pale green colour of the tea. With all this purity around me today I could only choose my white “Palour Lace” teacup to enhance the whole sense of fresh, lightness of being.

I think today will be a reading and art day. I was thinking of pruning the Hydrangeas by the house but I think this is an unrealistic expectation with the way the rain is coming down in very heavy downpours. Aurora and Serida are big eyed with ears are twitching at the sound of the rain on the roof. It is a difficult decision for them to stay inside with the noise or go out and get wet. So far inside is winning but if the sudden downpours keep up the may decide the brave the wet.

I am working on my June Goddess and I have the base completed now I have to do the fiddly bits hand sewing her coverings, adding decoration and creating her hair. SHE is a Spirit Goddess recycled, reclaimed, and restored.

Between downpours the sun has decided to beam its bright and shiny light. Water is glistening on the green of bushes in my garden and the road is like a mirror with the glaring reflection and slowly the brightness recedes as the clouds roll in again. Peek a boo of dull, bright, dull, bright a dance of sun and clouds. Messages carried in the weather of change, nothing is static, change is the constant.

So my thoughts for this day are on the words Lao Tzu

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” ― Lao Tzu

And

“Simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures. Simple in actions and thoughts, you return to the source of being. Patient with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are. Compassionate toward yourself, you reconcile all beings in the world.” ― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

Blessings to all. In this upcoming week allow the world to flow through you and return you to the source of being. Here may you find the balance to enable you to step forward in your life.
