Went to sleep last night to the sound of heavy rain on the roof, a very large quantity of rain came down. I was expecting to see the stream had overflowed it’s banks but thankfully that hadn’t happened. Woke up to a touch of sunshine, now the grey has closed in again and the garden to is cold and very wet, so I won’t be getting out there today.
Broke my fast with Tung Ting Oolong Tea, it was the last of my sample pack. It is a light, bright and cheerful tea and definitely on my list to get a full pack. Normally my choice of Oolong is Iron Goddess of Mercy which appeals to me on so many levels so that I am not giving that tea up I think I will stock up three different teas in each of white, green, oolong and black. I still have a few more samples to try and the decision as to which teas I will buy will be difficult as I have enjoyed each tea as I have tried it. There are so many different flavours making up each teas within each type of tea, like wines you develop a level of appreciation.
I told someone the other day that I am a tea snob and I will not touch the tea at work, the ordinary generic tea that has milk dolloped into it and come out a mud brown colour and also I do not have the time to drink tea at work. For me tea is about ritual, it is a carrier to a state of mind and body; the time taken to make and drink the tea all add dimension. All the elements that make up tea for me do not fit into the work environment.
I finished my July Goddess an acrylic painting “Birthing Universal Love” SHE is beautiful and I am really pleased with her. I have in mind a couple of paintings to do next; one of a Pukeho and the other a cubist style painting both of them are from digital art I have created. I am not sure which I will start next as I still have to finish June’s Goddess.
Today my musings are on living a creative life following a conversation yesterday with a friend. Working 30 to 40 hours a week we often compress the aspects of our life that are most important to us individually into a very small period of time being the weekends and after work has finished. A bedrock of my belief system is that the only life we each have is in this very moment, so to live your life you must be present in each moment, not regretting the past or worrying about what is to come but being fully here and now. Those thoughts of past and future come into your mind and you can examine them in the now but don’t lock onto them allowing past and future to take over the now. When you do anything, bring your wonderful mind fully to bear on what you are doing; become mindful of your actions. A creative life is a life full to the brim with you whether it is through art, music, colour, plants, gardens, crystals, words, language, books, body, exercise, family, energy or spirit a creative life is the life you fully engage in. Don’t give your life away it is precious and beautiful.
Some words from people who have lived a creative life:
Great things are not done by impulse, but a series of small things brought together.
- Vincent Van Gogh
Whether you succeed or not is irrelevant, there is no such thing. Making your unknown known is the important thing.
- Georgia O’Keeffe
and love is and integral part of a creative life
“If you send out goodness from yourself, or if you share that which is happy or good within you, it will all come back to you multiplied ten thousand times. In the kingdom of love there is no competition; there is no possessiveness or control. The more love you give away, the more love you will have.” ― John O'Donohue, Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom
Blessings to you all in this week to be, open yourself up to a life that is full to the brim of your loving and creative energy.
