It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring; well Khepra was snoring away at the end of my bed until I got up that meant he had to get up too. After a lovely, productive day yesterday managing to get in 13277 steps I have my doubts I will get to 5000 today. I am hoping this storm will move on as I am going to be walking to work again from this month and I would like to get started tomorrow to embed the commitment. If it is raining my red waterproof poncho will be getting a good work out.
Today I chose Ceylon Black tea, flavoured with Pomegranate and Mint. This tea is deep, sweet and bright with a wonderful mahogany colour when poured into the cup, a perfect way to start a rainy day as spring make her entrance.
Blossoms are appearing on my nectarine and almond trees and geraniums are coming into bloom. Spring is a beautiful time of the year with the sense of renewal everywhere I look, fresh green leaves on trees, baby birds making a racket demanding food. I have all these plans of the thing I am going to do over the next few months. One of the first things is painting my outdoor furniture and some ornaments this will give a burst of colour into the garden which will inspire me to bring everything else up to standard to match the new look. Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done. I am prioritising structural aspect first, then I can be a grasshopper an jump from task to task.
I am so wrapped with the microchip cat feeders, the lack of tension around food is such a pleasure and Aurora has put on a little bit of weight and I cannot feel her backbone when petting her. Another change is that Khepra is spending more time inside, coming for cuddles and sleeping every night on my bed over last week and a bit. He is still a little precious and if I am in the kitchen he has to have some petting before he will eat. Aurora and Khepra are eating the kidney support biscats and Serida is eating the weight reduction biscat and they have stopped trying to get into the oter’s dishes. Last but not least the feeding area in the kitchen is much cleaner, this is a product I would definitely recommend.
I am reading Purgatory by Rosetta Allan, a New Zealand author the story is based on the 1865 Otahuhu murders and starts with the ghosts of the murdered mother and three sons stuck in the garden where they were buried. Also I am reading a vampire shapeshifter series by Connie Suttle that spans millennium on earth and other planets. With the weather as it is today these are going to be my focus.
Today’s musings are on connectedness; our links with each other and the space we live on and within. When we consider everything in the world and world itself as a living entity it is easy to understand our connectedness with everything around us and that everything around changes and evolves all of the time.
I love my house and the land I am privileges to look after. I have filled my house and the land with cats, art, books, plants and crystals to enhance it beauty and to support me with that beauty; when I walk into my house or into my garden it is like walking into a hug, the house and garden in their peace and calmness wrap around me and supports me.
John O’Donohue’s words express the friendship you can have with your home and with the land in those places you hold in your heart as your home places.
“Is it not possible that a place could have huge affection for those who dwell there? Perhaps your place loves having you there. It misses you when you are away and in its secret way rejoices when you return. Could it be possible that a landscape might have a deep friendship with you? That it could sense your presence and feel the care you extend towards it? Perhaps your favourite place feels proud of you.” ― John O'Donohue, Divine Beauty: The Invisible Embrace
And
“In our mediocrity and distraction, we forget that we are privileged to live in a wondrous universe.” ― John O'Donohue, Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom
Blessing to you all. Reach out with your heart to the wondrous universe that is yours.
