A sunny Sunday, a day for me to get into the garden and get the planting done once the top layer of grass is lifted. I spent the day yesterday working in the garden and got a good amount done. The Heuchera Berry Marmalade I won arrived on Thursday and I got them into the garden yesterday. The Heuchera with its wonderful deep wine colour looks stunning against my Golden Sedum ground cover.
I broke my fast with Hon Gyokuro Japanese Green tea a mellow, buttery tea that is a pleasure to drink. I chose my teal and black handleless tea cup with its rough, smooth texture, With this I had grilled field mushrooms and poached eggs. All the taste, colours and textures offered a pleasurable start to the day.
I am keeping really busy with the 30 day Flash Fiction Challenge. So far I have written eight flash fictions;
Times Past – A tale about dementia
The Other Side of The Mirror – a fantasy -Carving out a story from the tree of life
The Silent Child - a fantasy – finding a child from a prophecy
With Spirit - a fantasy – a saboteur in the Elemental War
Strength in Vulnerability – a story about family violence
The Tea Sage and The Spirit Fox – a folk tale
Walking The Labyrinth – Finding enlightenment after abuse and divorce
It’s a A Strange, Strange World We Live In, Master Jack – Fantasy – about a revolution.
I tried this challenge last year and didn’t meet it I only managed to write about 4 or 5 stories. The time constraints and trying to write to the prompt meant I didn’t meet the challenge. So I am giving it another go I have already double my attempt. Each story I write is another I can add to my portfolio of writing and when I feel like it I can submit them to Flash Magazine.
All three cats are spending a lot of time inside. The new neighbours have a number of young people over and I think the cats feel inside the house is safest from all these people around. With the fireworks going off every night since they went on sale for Guy Fawkes, fourth of November, Serida and Khepra have spent a lot of time under the beds. Aurora crouches near me and plaintively meows as if I can make it stop,
I am going to head off into my happy place, into the garden full of sound, movement, growth and energy. My thoughts for today are about challenges. Setting goals and working towards them is important. As thinking beings we need to strive to make ourselves the best we can be. By giving myself tasks and challenges I stretch and grow; my mind, heart and spirit are energised and my days are full.
Some quotes around life and goals;
“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.” – Tony Robbins
And
“Envision, create, and believe in your own universe, and the universe will form around you.” - Tony Hsieh
And
“To live a fulfilled life, we need to keep creating the "what is next", of our lives. Without dreams and goals there is no living, only merely existing, and that is not why we are here.” - Mark Twain
Blessings to all, may you meet all the challenges that come to you in this upcoming week with a willing heart.
