05/06/2016 “As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness -- just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.” ― Laura Ingalls Wilder
Initially thinking about transportation I thought of my car as the most obvious thing to address today’s challenge. But then I decide to look at it a little differently. In the spirit of the above quote, today I give thanks to my feet. As I walked from the top of the garden to the bottom of the garden many time, I gave thought to my feet. They carry the full load of our lives into each day.
In yoga the Mountain Pose Tadasana is the foundation for all of the standing postures and improves posture, groundedness, stability and confidence.
And to move through life we require all of these. I give thanks to my feet, for grounding and connecting me to the earth, for enabling me to stand steady when I need stability, both metaphorically and physically. And for being the primary form of transportation I have.
