Gratitude helps us see what is there, instead of what isn’t

Texture, visible and tactile, thinking about this challenge I focussed on the feel of things around me. My hand felt the smooth, hard, cold texture of the tile in the bathroom, the smooth, rough warmth of the carpet under my feet then the silky thickness of the rug and the bumpy skin of the tangelo from my tree.

When you close your eyes and feel the textures of object and your surroundings they become three dimensional, they have texture, shape and mass. By the feel of them you are able to recognise differences between the things that make up your environment.

The textures I give thanks for are the smooth warmth and vibrant aliveness of my cats, their fur, muscles and density all bring pleasure and a greater sense of connectedness.
