We Can Complain Because Rose Bushes Have Thorns, or Rejoice Because Thorn Bushes Have Roses Quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln

This is an expression of both optimism and pessimism. We choose how we see and interact with the world around us and where we choose to stand between these two opposing view is a direct correlation to how our present moment is going to be. It seems to me that a perspective on work is that it not something you express gratitude for rather it appears that is more acceptable to denigrate work. In the work place the thorn complaint is greater than the beauty of the flower.

This challenge topic is very challenging because what can I say about work. I am certainly thankful I have work to do that enables me to live my life in the way I want. Work that I am engaged in, that gives me the opportunity to interact with and assist people. It generates a sense of satisfaction from doing the job well and a familiarity and confidence in my accumulated knowledge and the sharing of that knowledge.

“Don’t do any task in order to get it over with. Resolve to do each job in a relaxed way, with all your attention. Enjoy and be one with your work.” ― Thich Nhat Hanh

When you are focused on each aspect of what you do time moves very quickly you begin your work day and before you know it, it is time to leave the office and go home to a different type of work.

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” ― William Arthur Ward

With thanks I choose to accept the thorns and rejoice in the flowers
